The future is now in Fort Collins.

After a couple of false starts, the Collin Hill era has officially arrived at Colorado State, as his late-season performance was good enough to help him check in at #20 on our annual countdown of Mountain West football’s best players.

Hill suffered a pair of ACL injuries that cut short both his 2016 and 2017 campaigns, and though he saw playing time throughout the early parts of 2018, it wasn’t until November that he claimed the starting role for good. For the season, Hill completed 58.9% of his passes and threw for 1,387 yards with seven touchdowns against seven interceptions, establishing himself as the conference’s most dangerous quarterback (according to Pro Football Focus) when it came to throwing deep.

The offense may be in transition with the team’s two leading pass catchers and leading rusher gone from last season, but a healthy Hill could help the Rams surprise when no one’s expecting it.
