A tough break for the Broncos
Bowl games margins are extremely thin and there are times that teams do lose money becauuse of distance of travel, how expensive a city is or the dreaded mandatory ticket allotment.
One thing no one considers is a bowl game being canceled, and that is what happened for the post-Christmas Day First Responders Bowl which was canceled after multiple weather issues.
This was only the second time ever that an FBS postseason game was canceled when a charity game after the season between San Jose State and Hawaii were canceled back in 1941 when Pearl Harbor was attacked.
Boise State is excpected to lose anywhere between $25,000 – $30,000. The reason for the loss is because any tickets bought from the school directly will be refunded the amount of its ticket for the game being canceled. This is the right move by the school to refund those tickets.
According to the Mountain West, Boise State will receive its full share from the payout of this bowl game which will be $933,500.
