This game is the second-ever between these two schools with Boston College winning the first matchup all the way back in 2005 at the MicronPC Bowl game in Boise, Idaho. So, history is light between these two teams.
The big thing to look for in this game is that the Broncos are without three key players in wide receiver John Hightower and backup running back Robert Mahone who are out for grades and second-leading tackler in Tyson Maeva was sent home for violating team rules.
Hightower is out could be an issue as he has been a playmaker all year and can spark the Broncos offense, and then Maeva could be an issue in the running game. He does a great job at getting to the ball carrier and making tackles so his loss will be felt, but not too much. Boise State still has players like Jabril Frazier and Curtis Weaver who make plays behind the line of scrimmage.
This is also QB Brett Rypien‘s final game in a Broncos uniform and one more chance to cement his legacy as one of the best quarterbacks ever at Boise State. He has 37 career wins as a quarterback during his four-year time as a starter which is second most all-time and he has one more chance to lead the Broncos to 11 wins in back-to-back seasons.
