The big storyline regarding this game is the Hawaii offense against Louisiana Tech’s defense. That means that this game could be a ton of points for the Warriors if they can get past the Bulldogs defense, or if the inverse happens then low-scoring it is.

The Warriors key priority on offense is to actually have good pass protection and that is a big question mark as they are 11th in the Mountain West by allowing 2.85 sacks per game. Louisiana Tech just happens to have one of the best defenders at sacking the quarterback in Jaylon Ferguson who has 15 sacks, and also 23.5 tackles for a loss.

Hawaii’s line is an issue but if QB Cole McDonald can get rid of the ball quickly in the run-n-shoot, then that is a way to offset that pass rush by Fergusion. However, the Warriors offense has struggled a bit the second half of the year, so maybe the time off to get healthy will give them a boost.

The Louisiana Tech offense is nothing special but the Warriors defense can make just mediocore offenses look really good with the subpar defense. While the Bulldogs do not pass all that effectively, they do have top-tier talen in Adrian Hardy who has 1,052 yards and a modest six touchdowns on 69 catches. He is joined by Teddy Veal who has hauled 62 receptions, so that is an area of concern for the Warriors in this game.

Hawaii’s eight wins are already the most ever for them since they joined the Mountain West and if they get to nine it will be the most victories since the 2010 team went 10-4/
