No. 4 – 11 is a real guessing game.
Nevada is the only thing that Mountain West basketball can be sure of, well sort of because those slow starts might be an issue. The Wolf Pack are still undefeated and ranked in the top 10 nationally but the rest of the league it is like throwing darts for most of the spots.
Our staff ranks the teams in the conference as we do each week. After the unanimous choice of the Wolf Pack, it is Fresno State and Utah State which are tied at second.
After it was San Diego State, probably based off of potential, which lost two games this past week to the University of San Diego and Cal.
The league is not just bad but really bad this year, and what is both embarrassing and really great is that the Bulldogs and Aggies are playing well with brand new head coaches.
The Aztecs have the potential to turn it around and maybe New Mexico as both turned it around late last year and appeared in the conference title game.
Below is an intriguing stat about how the Mountain West is fairing against KenPom rankings.
These rankings go through Dec. 3 – 9.
