Nevada’s McLane Mannix to Depart Program
One of Mountain West football’s top wide receivers, the sophomore Mannix will leave the Nevada Wolf Pack.
A surprise development out of Reno.
The Nevada Wolf Pack received some positive news early Sunday by landing the Mountain West’s bid in the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl, but that good fortune was followed by the surprising news that sophomore wide receiver McLane Mannix will withdraw from the program.
Mannix broke onto the scene as a true freshman by hauling in 57 catches for 778 yards and six touchdowns, then followed that up by spearheading the Wolf Pack’s offensive surge in 2018 with 44 catches for 803 yards and six scores.
His 1,581 career receiving yards and 12 touchdowns rank 20th and 15th in school history, respectively, while his 15.7 yards per catch rank third in the program’s history among Wolf Pack players with at least 100 catches. All in all, Mannix put together an impressive performance given the short time he’s spent in the program’s Air Raid offense.
Kaleb Fossum is likely to take his place in the starting lineup when Nevada takes the field against Arkansas State on December 29.
