Colorado State looks to get back on track against their in-state rivals the Colorado Buffaloes. The Rams are coming off of a horrific defensive performance against Illinois State this past Tuesday in a double-digit loss.
The problem was that this team could not play with the bigs down low and SIU clearly took advantage of that by easily outrebounding the Rams.
“Guards have to help out on the rebounding,” Colorado State’s Kris Martin said. “We can’t just rely on Nico, even though he’s a great rebounder. We can’t rely on him to get 20 rebounds a night every game. That’s our job, we have to take responsibility for that and be better.”
Nico Carvacho only had three rebounds in that loss, so that needs to change, especially going up against a Pac-12 foe on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams will have to shut down Buffaloe junior forward Lucas Siewaert and sophomore guard McKinley Wright. Both average double digits in scoring and offer a nice one-two punch for the Buffaloes offense. The Rams scoring defense was an issue as well by allowing five SIU players to get into double figures.
