2018 Mountain West Title Game Matchup Scenarios
Who has a shot at the conference title?
Three teams are in the running.
There is a lot more clarity this week as what teams will be in the Mountain West title game. Five teams were in the mix heading into Week 12, but that number is down to just three.
Fresno State has already clinched a spot in the championship game after its win against San Diego State. The Mountain Division has a defacto title game after Boise State beat New Mexico and Utah State defeated Colorado State.
The Broncos host the Aggies Saturday night and the early odds have the home team as a three-point favorite. The winner of this game will play Fresno State on Dec. 1 for the championship.
As for what team will be hosting, it comes down to conference record. Utah State has zero league losses so if they defeat Boise State they will host the title game against Fresno State.
If Boise State wins they would host the title game regardless of what Fresno State does. A Bulldogs win means the teams will have the same league record and the head-to-head matchup favors the Broncos. A Fresno State loss would give them more losses than Boise State and the game would be at Alberstons Stadium.
