After beating Life Pacific College 89-72, an NAIA school in southern California, the Spartans lost at home to Southern Utah 59-66. San Jose used it’s size advantage against Life Pacific as they dominated the boards 47-19.

The Spartans were led by some new faces as Brae Ivey, a junior college transfer from Riverside College led all players in scoring with 18 points in his D1 debut. Michael Steadman, a junior college transfer from City College of San Francisco lead all rebounders with 13 and also had 15 points. In total 9 new players suited up for the Spartans.

San Jose State played a close game against Southern Utah as it was 31-31 at the half at the Event Center. Unfortunately, the Spartans shot only 35 percent from the floor and 29 percent from three. Again Michael Steadman led the Spartans in rebounds with 14 and added nine points to go along but ultimately it was not enough for the Spartans as they lost by seven.

Weber State comes in 1-1 as they lost at San Diego 66-83 and beat Bethesda 123-53.
