Why Air Force will win?
If the Falcons are going to upset the Aztecs, they need to have their rushing game on point. On the year, they average 254.8 yards per game which is the 15th best in the country. In addition, Air Force needs its defense to step up and have a big game. They will put a great number of points on the board (average 31.4 points per game) but they need to be able to stop the Aztecs on offense.
Why San Diego State will win?
Ryan Agnew has been surprisingly strong as starting quarterback, and despite Christian Chapman’s command of the Aztecs up to now, he has played better then Chapman has in his limited time so far under center. The Aztecs need to have the ball more and keep the ball away from the Air Force triple option offense.
Also, if the Aztecs can stop the triple-option they will be fine. On offense, Chase Jasmin will look to get back into the 100-yard digit category and if he does so the Aztecs will be in great hands. On defense look for linebacker Kyahva Tezino who is the Aztecs leading tackler with 39. With the Falcons running the ball a lot look for Tezino to have a ton of tackles.
This will be a very interesting Mountain West conference game. If the Aztecs can’t stop the triple option the Falcons will have a great chance for an upset. If San Diego State can the Aztecs will have an easier road.
Final Score – San Diego State 34, Air Force 21
