Fresno State is looking to beat its Southern California counterpart as it heads to the Rose Bowl to take on the UCLA Bruins which are 0-2. UCLA has not gotten off the to the best start under new head coach Chip Kelly with a loss to Cincinnati and then getting rocked against Oklahoma.
Fresno State is one play away from being 2-0 and getting closer to being ranked, but instead, are trying to regroup its offense which struggled vs. Minnesota.
The Bulldogs offense needs to find a way to get back to moving the ball and scoring. Idaho numbers are not expected against UCLA but the offense needs to be better than last week against the Gophers.
One huge injury that could impact the offense for Fresno State is the loss of left tackle Netane Muti for the season with an Achilles’ tendon injury. In his place will be Christian Cronk who had been playing left guard this year.
Through two games the UCLA offense and defense has been pretty bad as they are near the bottom of the Pac-12 in nearly every category. The Oklahoma loss skews things a bit since it is just two game but this Bruins team is a work in progress and that makes this game very winnable.
