2018 Mountain West Football 50 Best Players: #2, UNLV RB Lexington Thomas
The Rebels running back is tops at the position on our countdown of Mountain West football best players.
Catch Thomas if you can this fall.
Las Vegas is regarded as one of the country’s top entertainment destinations but, historically, this hasn’t often extended to the city’s college football team. Thanks to UNLV running back Lexington Thomas, however, #2 on our countdown of the Mountain West’s best football players, the Rebels have a show-stopper in their backfield.
When running mate Charles Williams was lost for the year early in the season, Thomas stepped up to have one of the best performances in the program’s history, running for 1,336 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also emerged as one of the most explosive runners in the country, becoming one of just ten FBS running backs with at least ten 30-plus-yard runs. No wonder he became the first UNLV runner in 13 years to crack the all-conference first team.
With another year like 2017, Thomas could leave Las Vegas as UNLV’s all-time leading rusher, as he currently trails Tim Cornett by 1,249 yards. And as the leader of a dynamic young offense, Thomas could also lead the Rebels to their first bowl win since 2000.
