2018 Mountain West Football 50 Best Players: #6, San Diego State RB Juwan Washington
The San Diego State running back is the number one Aztec on our countdown of Mountain West football’s top 50 players.
Explosive plays? Washington’s got that.
It’s no secret that the San Diego State Aztecs are loaded for yet another climb to the top of the Mountain West, just as it’s no secret how they’re likely to get there: Play great defense and run the ball down the other team’s throat. While they lose yet another 2,000-yard rusher, they do bring back the #6 player on our countdown of the conference’s best, Juwan Washington, who’s definitely more than just the next man up.
Though he hasn’t yet been the lead back in the Aztecs offense, Washington has done a lot of damage in limited time over the past two years, running for 1,200 yards on 182 carries (6.6 yards per carry). He’s also scored 17 total touchdowns, as well, including seven on the ground and two via kick returns in 2017.
While the last couple years have set the bar awfully high for any San Diego State running back, the explosiveness that Washington has shown every time he steps foot on the field means that you can’t count him out on racking up big numbers with a larger role in his hands now.
