2018 Mountain West Football 50 Best Players: #12, Boise State LT Ezra Cleveland
Boise State’s sophomore left tackle is the highest-rated offensive lineman on this year’s list of Mountain West football’s top players.
The blind side is in good hands.
From the heady days of Ryan Clady, the Boise State Broncos have built their legacy on a litany of top-flight offensive linemen, which now probably includes Ezra Cleveland. The sophomore left tackle, #12 on this year’s countdown, is our top-ranked player in the offensive trenches.
In an article from the Idaho Statesman this past April, B.J. Rains made note that, according to offensive line coach Brad Badell, Cleveland played every single offensive snap in 2017, making him integral to the Broncos’ offensive growth last fall. After allowing 12 sacks in the first four games of the season, Cleveland and the rest of the unit allowed just 15 in nine conference games.
The offense also improved from averaging 5.03 yards per play in non-conference action to 6.28 YPP against Mountain West opponents.
At 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, Cleveland looks every bit the cornerstone of an offense that will continue to develop new weapons over the next few years.
