2018 Mountain West Football 50 Best Players: #15, Utah State TE Dax Raymond
Utah State’s big tight end is the highest-ranked Aggie on this year’s countdown of Mountain West football’s top players.
Talented and productive tight ends are rare in the MWC.
Tight ends are usually rare on our annual countdown of Mountain West football’s top athletes, but the Utah State Aggies have one who could help them make significant moves in 2018. Dax Raymond is next at #15.
Last fall, he became just the seventh tight end this decade to catch at least 40 passes, grabbing 41 for 456 yards and a touchdown. He also managed a 68.3% catch rate and a 55% Success Rate (50% of necessary yardage on 1st down, 70% on 2nd down, 100% on 3rd and 4th down), both of which were the best figures among Utah State receivers with 20 or more targets.
With a more settled quarterback situation and a stable of experienced receivers around him, the 6-foot-5 junior could be a nightmare matchup for Mountain West defenders and a key to the Aggies’ division title hopes.
