Colorado State’s Ryan Stonehouse Named to Ray Guy Award Watchlist
The Rams’ sophomore is among 27 of college football’s best punters.
Stonehouse is the Mountain West’s best.
Watchlist season continues this morning with the release of the Ray Guy Award watchlist. Given annually to the nation’s best punter, there is just one name from the Mountain West on this year’s preseason list.
Colorado State punter Ryan Stonehouse arrived in Fort Collins as one of the Class of 2017’s best punting prospects, and he quickly became one of the best special teams weapons in the conference. He ranked fifth among FBS punters with a 45.9 yards per punt average and landed 20 of his 46 kicks inside the opponents’ 20-yard line, two significant reasons why Rams opponents began, on average, with the fourth-worst field position in the country (at the 25.7-yard line)
Last year’s Ray Guy Award winner was former Texas punter Michael Dickson.
