2018 Mountain West Football 50 Best Players: #24, Fresno State QB Marcus McMaryion
Fresno State’s quarterback is next on our list of Mountain West football’s top 50 players in 2018.
The Valley kid came home and made good.
The countdown of Mountain West football’s 50 best players continues with another quarterback, Fresno State’s Marcus McMaryion, who returned to the Central Valley and made enough of an impact to land at #24 on this year’s list.
The former Oregon State starter transferred to Fresno State and was handed the starting role in short time but, in spite of not even possessing full command of the playbook, he led the Bulldogs’ dramatic turnaround with a 62.1% completion rate, 2,726 passing yards and 14 touchdowns against just five interceptions. He also averaged 7.4 yards per carry as a runner (after adjusting for sacks) and added four touchdowns on the ground.
Most importantly, however, he led Fresno State back to the top of the West division and very nearly to the Mountain West title. With a full off-season under his belt and a deep offense around him, 2018 could be a special year for McMaryion.
