2018 Mountain West Football 50 Best Players: #39, Wyoming WR Austin Conway
The Wyoming Cowboys’ top receiver and punt returner continues our countdown of the Mountain West Conference’s top 50 football players.
Can Conway create more big plays this fall?
Mountain West Wire’s countdown of the conference’s 50 best football players rolls onward with another wide receiver, Wyoming’s Austin Conway, who is #39 on this year’s list.
The Cowboys’ pass-catchers were often plagued by injury last year, but the sophomore Conway stepped up to become Josh Allen’s most reliable target. On the season, he caught 61 balls (with a catch rate of 71%) for 549 yards and three touchdowns.
Conway also provided an impact on special teams, as well, averaging over 10 yards per punt return. This was the second-best figure in the Mountain West and, for good measure, made him one of just 11 players in the FBS to manage that on at least 20 attempts.
With a new quarterback under center and lingering questions about the running game, don’t be surprised to see a jump in Conway’s numbers as the Cowboys hope to reclaim the Mountain division.
