2018 Mountain West Football 50 Best Players: #40, Nevada RB Kelton Moore
The Nevada Wolf Pack’s breakout running back is next on our countdown of Mountain West football’s top 50 players.
What will the encore look like after a surprising emergence?
Our countdown of the Mountain West Conference’s 50 best football players arrives at Nevada running back Kelton Moore, who parlays one of last year’s most pleasant surprises into the #40 spot on this year’s list.
Following James Butler’s departure from the program last offseason, one of the biggest questions that Jay Norvell’s Air Raid attack faced was figuring out who would replace Butler’s production on the ground. The unheralded Moore, a two-star recruit from the Wolf Pack’s 2014 class, answered the bell and then some, cementing his hold on the starting job with a 216-yard performance against Hawaii and rushing for at least 100 yards in three of Nevada’s last five games.
Moore finished 2017 with 855 rushing yards, at 5.2 yards per carry, and 19 catches for 189 yards, as well as five total touchdowns. While he may not sneak up on anyone this fall, expect him to continue providing the necessary balance to an exciting Nevada offense.
