Colorado State Looks For An Easier Time In Week 5

Colorado State wraps up it’s non-conference schedule against Illinois State. While the Redbirds may be an FCS program, they have given FBS programs trouble in the past. Case in point, the defeated Northwestern back in 2016. They are lead by Brock Spack and if his name sounds familiar, well it should to CSU fans. Spack was Defensive Coordinator at Wyoming back in the late ’90’s.

Coach: Brock Spack, 10th Year
2018 Record: 6-5, 4-4 Conference

2017 Season In Review
2017 brought another 6-5 season for the Redbirds but this time they were left out of the FCS playoffs. The main reason was due to the fact that they lost their last 3 football games.

Key Players Returning
QB Jake Kolbe, RB James Robinson, OT Drew Himmelman, S Mitchell Brees.

2018 Strengths

Some key pieces return on the offensive side of the ball in Kolbe, Robinson and Himmelman. Robinson will be the rock and look for him to run behind Himmelman a lot especially early in the season.

2018 Weakness

Head Coach Brock Spack has some holes to fill defensively. He must find a way to replace the top four tacklers from a year ago. He also has to find a way to get more productivity out of the quarterback position. While RB Robinson is a heck of a player, he cannot carry the offense by himself.
