How To Watch, Stream No. 6 Houston vs. No. 11 San Diego State
Can the Aztecs get past the Cougars?
Get to TBS for this late afternoon tip.
The San Diego State Aztes are on a roll by winning nine straight games and despite playing great the only reason the Aztecs are in the tournament are that they got hot and won the Mountain West tournament.
The Aztecs are taking on conference runner-up Houston Cougars who are the No. 6 seed and a four-point favorite over San Diego State. Houston is a very good team which topped Wichita State twice and also have a win over Cincinnati.
This will be a tough game for the Aztecs as the Cougars are 29th in adjusted offense and 18th in adjusted defense per KenPom and overall are 17th.
Houston is led by Rob Gray who scores 18.5 points per game and 4.5 assists and is a decent three-point shooter at 34 percent per game. The Cougars also have three other players who average 9.8 points or more and score 78 per contest. This will test the Aztecs defense but the one area where San Diego State has a big edge is in size.
That could be a difference if there are a lot of second-chance opportunities for San Diego State which helped them get past Nevada and New Mexico in the conference tournament.
