Hutchison selected 22nd overall by the Chicago Bulls

With the 22nd overall pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls selected Boise State wing Chandler Hutchison.

Hutchison, who spent his four collegiate seasons with the Broncos, averaged 20 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in 2018 en route to being named the Mountain West Player of the Year by the league media.

“I just had a bunch of people in my corner during my time at Boise State that believed in me,” Hutchison said during a post-selection interview with ESPN’s Maria Taylor.

Hutchison brings defensive effort, length, athleticism, and an improving shooting stroke to the NBA. He entered college with an extremely slender frame, but has added muscle while improving his on-court game.

“I’m obsessed with working and reaching the ultimate goal,” Hutchison said.

With Thursday’s selection, Hutchison becomes the highest-ever Boise State player to be selected in the NBA Draft.

Chicago finished 13th in the Eastern Conference last season at a record of 27-55. Its key rotational players this past season were Justin Holiday, Kris Dunn, and rookie Lauri Markkanen.

The Bulls had made a pre-draft promise to Hutchison that it would select the former Boise State star if still available at No. 22.
