Don’t let a resurgence catch you by surprise.
Unsurprisingly, the best of the best in the Mountain West leans upon the defending conference champions, so it shouldn’t shock anyone that our top ten has back-to-back Boise State defenders, with defensive tackle David Moa checking in at #7 on this year’s countdown.
Moa’s 2017 wasn’t without some challenges, as the 6-foot-3, 275-pound lineman dealt with some off-field issues and made just 11 starts for the Broncos last fall. He still collected 21 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks, however, earning second-team all-Mountain West honors in the process.
He remains a key contributor for a defense that allowed just 3.4 yards per carry last season, the best figure in the Mountain West. Even if Moa’s numbers don’t pop off the stat sheet, don’t be surprised if #55 continues to cause headaches in the trenches.
