The countdown of Mountain West football’s 50 best players continues with the lone San Jose State representative on this year’s list, Spartan tight end Josh Oliver.
Brent Brennan’s first Spartans team often had a rough go of things on offense, but Oliver emerged as a seasoned, reliable target with 35 catches, the third-most of any Mountain West tight end, for 296 yards and one touchdown. Perhaps more importantly, he led SJSU with a 62.5% catch rate. He had three different games with five catches in 2017, too, so whoever emerges from the fall’s quarterback competition will have at least one quality pass-catcher upon which he can count.
