Our countdown of the Mountain West’s best football players continues today with another running back, Colorado State’s Izzy Matthews, who returns to our list for a second straight year at #22 and is primed for his best performance yet.
As it is, Matthews has made the most of a shared workload for three years running, finishing 2017 with 753 yards from scrimmage and nine total touchdowns.
Now that Dalyn Dawkins has graduated, Matthews may be in line to receive more than the 153 carries that marks his current single-season high (done back in 2016) and keep the Rams competitive in the always-tough Mountain division. Don’t just take our word for it, though, as he isn’t shy about the expectations he has for his last year in the green and gold:
