New position, new challenges, same old threat to quarterbacks.
Finally, the countdown of the conference’s best players has reached the top ten! We begin with a defender who’s making a position switch coming into the 2018, Nevada Wolf Pack linebacker Malik Reed, and has long been a disruptive force.
Before moving to linebacker, however, Reed, a longtime defensive end, needed to acclimate to a new role in coordinator Jeff Casteel’s 3-3-5 defense. And acclimate he did, setting career bests with ten tackles for loss, eight sacks and four forced fumbles while earning first-team all-Mountain West honors for the first time.
Now heading into his senior year, Reed may no longer have his hand in the turf on every play, but there’s a very good chance he finds new ways to terrorize quarterbacks across the conference.
