Can The Rebels Get The Victory In New Mexico
Rebels Look For Fifth Win
UNLV is in a must win situation if they want to make a bowl game.
The streak is over. After winning two games in a row, the UNLV Rebels were upended at home last week against BYU in a 31-21 loss. Now, at 4-6, UNLV has two weeks left to become bowl eligible. This week they head to New Mexico where they will take on the Lobos, who sit at 3-7 on the season, but only 1-5 in conference play.
These are the keys to victory…
When the team is on offense, look for them to establish the run game early on. Lexington Thomas has had a career year this season for the Rebels as he’s rushed for 1146 yards and 15 touchdowns. If UNLV is victorious, Thomas will have a big part in that.
Also look for big plays from the quarterbacks. With the exception of last week, Johnny Stanton has looked good while filling in for Armani Rogers. Speaking of Rogers, coach Sanchez has said that he will see action this week.
Finally, and probably the biggest key of all, the defense must do its job when they are on the field. Looking back on the season thus far, the Rebels have lost every game in which they have allowed 30 or more points.
If the defense can do their job and stop New Mexico’s offense and the Rebel offense can get Thomas going early, UNLV should be able to get their fifth win of the season.
The game is on Friday at 6:30 p.m. MT on ESPN 2.
