Hutchison is the top player in this year’s countdown
The #1 player in the MWC Wire Basketball Countdown is Boise State wing Chandler Hutchison.
Hutchison, a senior guard/forward from Mission Viejo, California, saw a sizable improvement last season as a junior. His per-game slash line went from 6.8/4.1/1.3 as a sophomore to 17.4/7.8/2.6 in ’16-17. He was widely heralded as one of the most improved players in the entire nation.
Opting to return to Boise after declaring for the NBA Draft, Hutchison brings athleticism, length, go-to scoring, and solid defense to the Bronco rotation. He is scattered across any and all preseason top 50 and top 100 player lists, and was named to the Naismith Award preseason watch list Thursday. Seth Davis of The Athletic tabbed Hutchison as the most underrated player in the entire country for the 2017-18 season.
Hutchison’s a first team all-Mountain West selection and finished in the league’s top five in almost every major statistical category in 2016-17. It’s safe to say that Hutchison is the most valuable player in the Mountain West, and the MWC Wire staff expects him to explode as a senior.
